i did it. i made my first ever homemade bread. and it was good. nay, it was pretty much spot on. crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. wonderful wheaty flavor. that’s good enough for me.
i was a li’l bit scared of trying to make my own bread. but honestly, i was sick and tired of paying $3-$4 for a loaf of good bread and then trying to read the ingredients list only to be baffled by all the words i couldn’t pronounce. why are there so many big words in bread? sheesh. i had had enough. in addition, i was watching a documentary with the hubs 2 nights ago called ‘beer wars’ and someone said something like ‘why do you think bread lasts on the grocery store shelf for 2 weeks??’ and i was like, right. exactly. time to make my own bread.
i consulted with all my fb friends, who encouraged me and gave me great tips. many thanks to them, i knew i could do it. i mean i was already making my own pizza dough. how much harder could it be? turns out, it’s not hard at all. especially when you have a stand mixer that does all the kneading for you. wow!
so i’ve got 2 lovely loaves of this scrumptious honey whole wheat bread sitting on my counter, that i fear will be gone in a day. but that’s ok. i am totally planning on baking bread every week. yeehaw!!!***
